Recorded on December 22, 1967 at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
In jewel case with obi. Four page cover insert/booklet with brief note from Michael Cuscuna in English (see below). An additional fold-out insert features liner notes in Japanese backed by a facsimile of the original LP jacket back cover.
Note: This is Jackie McLean's last recording for Blue Note and it is as fresh, creative and exciting as the first one that he did 9 years before. With a quintet that includes Woody Shaw, who contributed two tunes, and Jack De Johnette, who was the second great drummer that McLean gave to the jazz world after Tony Williams, Jackie left Blue Note with one of his finest efforts. There are no additional tunes or alternate takes. (M. Cuscuna)
