Born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
First lead singer for Shalamar. Once a former dancer on the nationally syndicated program, Soul Train, Gerald was also a member of the Soul Train Gang which recorded two albums with writers and producers such as Norman Harris, Vince Montana, Leon Sylvers III and Gene Page. For two decades Cincinnatians have known Gerald best for his vocals in the jingle “It’s Skyline Time”. Prior to his jingle singing, Gerald and his brother, Terry Brown, helped Dick Griffey build a record empire named Solar Records. Terry’s former music students (notably L.A. Reid and Reggie Calloway) contributed to the company’s success. Gerald’s most notable record to date is “Take That To The Bank”, a duet with Jody Watley. His newest project features a duet with Midnight Star’s Belinda Lipscomb, and a couple of remakes from Little Willie John’s greatest hits. Two songs “Heart Breaker” and “Somebody Please” were written by Terry Brown and Norman Beavers of Lakeside. A composition by Gerald is “Loser’s Game”. Gerald’s CD-DVD packets will include excerpts from his 2005 Live performance with the Shalamar Revue Band at Macy’s Festival (Paul Brown Stadium), footage from a Skyline Special, commercials from Procter and Gamble (featuring Gerald) and the Original Shalamar performing “Take That To The Bank”.

Do NOT confuse with British songwriter [a=Gerry Brown (2)] who also co-wrote a song named "Country Girl".
